Around 1980 the Architect Gilbert Caroff was commissioned in Paris to built a sailboat for the Artic Sea.
The hull of the Ile Disko (named after a Groenland’s archipelago) was made of steel, 12.70 meters of boat equipped with lifting keel, strong enough to withstand the toughest sea conditions.
Ever since about 200 more hulls were made using this durable method. In 1992 the Rumbera was launched, after two years of work, where the crew was present in order to choose the best equipment for a comfortable and safe journey. Rumbera spent two years sailingin the Caribbean islands and along the Venezuelan coast, and in 1994 it arrived in Sardinia.
