Tiziana Di Carlo, born in 1960, was introduced at early age to the world of sailing and she transformed this passion into her life’s work.

In 1983 she began chartering leaving from Fiumicino (Rome), on board a sloop of 12 meters, which in 1985 transferred to the Balearic Islands. In 1987, when she returned to Italy, she decided to settle in northern Sardinia, close to nature and ideal conditions to continue living her dream of sailing. In 1988 she made her first Atlantic crossing to Brazil. After returning from South America in 1990, she came up with the idea for the steel boat.
Later on she contacted the Orsa Maggiore shipyard, which specilizes in the construction of metal boats, and decided on the idea for the Rumbera.

Tiziana moved into a roulotte inside the cantiere and actively helped with the construction of the boat. After two years the boat was ready for its departure in October 1992 from Palau (Sardinia) headed towards the Carribean Islands. She travelled chartering between Antigua and Grenada, eventually arriving in Venezuela, at Los Roques and returned to Palau in 1994. In the following years she alternated working with the Rumbera and in winter with private boats.

Vanni Chessa, born in 1960, he spent many years working in an adviser office. Later on he worked for his sailing hobby.

After years of sailing the Mediterranean Sea and national regattas at a high level (Official Team SLAM at the IMS rules in 1995/1996) in 2001 he followed Fano (Marche) in the construction of the Adriatica, the boat of the “Turisti per caso”: Patrizio Roversi e Susy Blady, who with the material gained on board produce a national TV program. With the Adriatica, leaving from Marina di Ravenna, he arrived after 11 months and two Oceans at Auckland, New Zealand in November 2002. After that wonderful experienced he began sailing the Rumbera.
